Welcome to Macworld's monthly Interactive CD-ROM. This file describes the contents of the disc and provides important information about using it.
Web Builder Toolbox
Web designers and Web masters now have a lot of tools at their fingertips. Too many, in fact, to include on this disc. We have compiled some of the best, in our opinion, but both Adobe and Macromedia have other important products for Web creativity, and many other software companies have tools to help build pages, and to promote and maintain your site. Some of the best single-purpose tools are even shareware that you can find on macdownload.com.

Adobe Photoshop 6
Practically the definition of "killer app," Photoshop has long been a standard tool for illustrators, digital photographers, and Web designers. Version 6 adds a number of significant features to improve the program’s capabilities and to better integrate it with other Adobe programs. It offers enhancements to layer management, including an improved layer effects interface, adds direct text entry and text controls similar to InDesign, improves vector support and PDF support, and finally includes an image warping tool. Plus, it now lets you do direct slicing for Web presentation, although it also improves integration with ImageReady.
GameSpace
Everyone loves good Manga, the Japanese cartoons that have inspired the graphics of both our features games this month. Oni brings you butt-kicking action as you take the role of Konoko to save humanity. 3D Bridge Deluxe will only let you save humanity if you make book, although perhaps a good card game like classic bridge could add some fun to the process of world peace.
Breen’s Bungalow
Who needs focus groups? Macworld contributor and clairvoyant Chris Breen knows what all Mac users want and brings you more of the Mac tips you crave.
And as always, we include more new shareware programs, adding to our archive of over 300 programs!
This rest of this document contains technical and user information regarding the software on this CD-ROM. Please review it now, or take a moment to print and read this document.
SOFTWARE NOTES:
* Oni requires OpenGL 1.1.2 or newer. If you do not already have OpenGL on your system, you can download it from the Apple website at http://www.apple.com/opengl/
* Please visit our Web site for the latest information and any required activation keys.
* CrushFTP requires Mac OS Runtime for Java or other compatible Java virtual machine. Additionally, to use CrushFTP, you must first run "Install swingall.jar", then locate the file "swingall.jar", which is in the folder "swingallFolder". This installs the swingall library, upon which CrushFTP relies, in your System Folder.
NOTE: All of the videos on this disc require QuickTime 3.0 or later.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT DEMOS & SOFTWARE:
Software provided on this CD-ROM has been compressed. All software must be uncompressed and installed onto your hard drive. If you are unable to play game demos or go online, or if movies play back poorly, you may be short of memory. Quit other applications to free up more RAM and continue.
Trouble-shooting & Memory problems:
If this CD interface fails to launch, there are several things you can do to remedy the problem:
1) Turn on the Virtual Memory using the Memory Control Panel and set your total memory to at least 16MB. If you are using MacOS 7.5.5 or later this is the recommended solution.
2) To change memory allocation for a program, click once on the program's icon to select it, choose Get Info from the File menu, and set the Preferred Size to the desired amount.
3) Make sure you have enough memory to open the application you wish to run. To check your available memory use the "About this Computer..." menu option under the Apple menu while in the Finder.
4) Quit any applications you are not current using in order to free up memory for the software on the CD-ROM.
Minimum System Requirements:
1) Mac OS compatible computer (with a Motorola Power PC Processor).
2) System 7.5.3 or newer.
3) 14 inch color monitor with the capability of displaying 256 or more colors at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.
4) Double speed (2X) CD-ROM drive.
5) QuickTime (QuickTime 3, Sound Manager 3.2).
6) 12 MB of free RAM. At least 24 MB of physical RAM is recommended. To see how much available RAM your computer has, choose "About this Macintosh" from the Apple Menu.
